USA and Canada 2012
Hello again – I’m now up and running to record our
adventures over the next 7 weeks as our trip takes us to USA, Canada and back
to USA.
The plan is to fly to Los Angeles, stay a few days to see
Disneyland, take a day tour to look over the city and perhaps fit in some
shopping too.
Following this trip we will head to Las Vegas for a few days
and include a trip to see the Grand Canyon.
We will need a rest after this hectic week, so our trip takes us to
Canada, more specifically to Amherst in Nova Scotia for a 12 day home exchange.
John and Aileen Brown visited Canberra earlier this year and stayed at our home
while we were in Port Douglas. We plan
to then see Prince Edward Island for a few days before going to our second home
exchange in Washington DC. This city
captured our attention two years ago and when the exchange invitation was
extended to us from there we didn’t deliberate for too long before accepting
the exchange. We know that last time the
two week stay was not quite long enough to visit all that this great city has
to offer, so this time we will be armed with prior knowledge and plan our days
to achieve maximum exposure to all the museums and historic buildings.
Our flight back to Australia on 20th December
gets us home on 22nd (lost that day we gained on the way over) just
in time for Christmas.
Thursday 1st November
Our adventure begins!!
We were awake quite early as we had to catch the 8 am bus from Canberra
to Sydney in order to make our Qantas flight to Los Angeles later that
afternoon. The timing was adequate as
there was not too much time to just sit around the airport twiddling our
thumbs. Upon our arrival in Los Angeles at 8.30 am on 1st November
(yes we gained that precious day back), we took a shuttle to our hotel in
Anaheim, very close to Disneyland. We
needed to stay up for the day and not succumb to sleep as we have learned in
the past that giving way to a little snooze can disrupt the night time sleep
patterns for days. Instead we had a
leisurely meal close by and then walked and walked to re-activate ourselves and
our energy. It worked. We called into
Disneyland on the way back and purchased our tickets for the next day, as we
knew we didn’t want to waste any time in a line – the rides would be waiting
for us.
