Tuesday 17th July
Bike ride around to Moores Ramp with Sue and Ian – about 12 km return and we cycled close to the bay enabling wonderful views back to Streaky Bay and to the opposite side. This was no arduous ride, rather a pleasant one during which we paused to admire the scenery and bird life.

After lunch we took a drive around and found Perlubie Beach near which seems to be a recent development with a few “shacks” on large blocks.  They all have numerous water tanks and in some instances seemed to dwarf the living quarters. This point established itself in the history books as the place from which the pioneers shipped their wheat supposedly to a larger port.

The Cape Bauer Loop Drive was recommended to witness the Whistling Rocks and Blowholes.
In order to see these attractions we had to descend quite a long and very new stairway.

In fact, there were builders still putting some finishing touches to it. The  whistle of the water was an interesting feature, while there did not seem to be enough strength in the swell to give a “blow” to the blowhole.
Nevertheless it was a good workout climbing back up the stairs, and from here we weaved in and out many other lookouts to experience the ocean and many rugged and wonderfully shaped rock formations.

While sipping on our 5 o’clock drinks n company with Ian and Sue the pelicans on the beach gave some cheeky displays to all those watching.  They are magnificent seabirds and this family of 14 were quite tame and used to people taking very close up photos of them.
