Saturday 24th November
A drive today found us taking in the scenery from the driveway of Anne’s sister-in-law before heading for another look around the coast. As I have written before we knew that this is not a tourist season and we expected to find some of the busy tourist attractions closed, however we were a little surprised to find a whole village closed.  It was an eerie feeling driving through Cavendish, the home to the resort of Anne of Green Gables fame, but a few kilometres along the road life seemed to return to normal.  The weather had turned quite miserable so we returned to Anne’s home to indulge in some television.

Anne invited us to her church to join others in a pot luck dinner before they “hung the green”.

This was a lovely service whereby different families took significant Christmas items to the front of the church, for example poinsietta, holly, candy canes, christmas lights and the nativity scene.  The final dressing was turning on the christmas tree lights.  A number of carols were sung in between each segment and at the end of the evening the church looked quite charming.
